2013 Legislative Radar – for Hunters & Dog Owners

The State of Maine has published a preliminary list of proposed legislation for the First Session of the 126th Legislature.  The following is a list of Legislative Requests (referred to as an LR) which, for the time being, Maine Hunting & Sporting Dog Owners will be monitoring. At this point in time most of these do not have a Legislative Document number (LD) and the bill text is not readily available.  Some of these proposed laws will never make it to that stage. We do expect several of them to be hotly contested and debated this session.  And we intend to stand on the side of those who abhore animal abuse, neglect and cruelty while supporting reasonable animal welfare laws. We will also stand on the side of the Maine gun owners to protect our rights as stated in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. ~ John & Ann Short
